Why it doesn’t rain satellites

In the article about aeroplanes , we saw that it is the wings that
give it flight and not the engine. So how do rockets manage to fly yet
they don't have wings?Well, actually, some rockets do have wings. If
you closely look at the ones used in ballistic missiles, you will
notice small wings usually near the front end. But the ones for
delivering satellites into outer space are normally wingless. These
satellite delivery rockets do not stay in the sky; they are usually
dropped off once their job is done and they fall back to the ground
(okay, usually in the oceans) and the satellite is then left in orbit
where it stays without needing any additional propulsion. This is
probably the more intriguing kind of flight. In the aeroplane article,
we saw how the flow of air over the wings provides the upward lifting
force. But there is no air in outer space, so how do the satellites
manage to stay up there? Many people think that there is no gravity in
space, but that is a misconception — there is gravity and if we
weren't careful, the satellites would indeed fall back to earth. To
better understand how they stay up there, let's do a simple
thought-experiment. If you pick a stone and throw it away, it is
common knowledge that the harder you throw it, the farther it will
fall. Now, bearing in mind that the earth is spherical in shape, we can
then appreciate that the farther away you throw the stone, the closer
it gets to you from behind. A question that arises: Is it possible to
throw an object so hard that it travels all the way round and comes
back to the starting point? The answer is, surprise, surprise, yes! And
this is the trick used in a satellite. It is accelerated to such a
high velocity so that it flies all the way past the starting point.
That way, it stays in an orbit around the earth without the need for
wings.Still, doesn't the satellite need to be propelled continuously
once it has reached its orbit? The answer to this question comes in the
form of a question: What would slow down the satellite? When things
are moving on the ground they are slowed by friction; objects flying
in the air are slowed down by friction between their surface and the
air.In outer space, there is no friction, therefore, there is no need
for additional propulsion once the desired orbit has been
reached. However, life isn't perfect and there are small amounts of air
at the typical altitude of satellites. For this reason, satellites
need an occasional slight push to take them back to the designated
height. And the engines required for this are not very powerful — some
of them can't even lift a baby off the ground.

long distance relationship

A long distance relationship always requires more trust and communication as compared to a short distance relationship where you can see your partner now and then. This doesn’t work out when both elements are missing.

Due to lack of constant contact with each other, it might be difficult to understand what your partner is going through. Thus, when there is a change in behaviour most of the time you will tend to think that she is having a relationship with someone else, which might not be the case.

For a long distance relationship to be healthy and strong, you need to have constant communication with your partner (both ways). Communication helps to understand how the other person is doing and what they are going through. This also increases a sense of connectivity. Now that you have realised your partner has changed, you need to talk to her and find out what might be happening — is it that there is someone else she is seeing? Is it that there are other things that are going through her life that might be hindering communication? That way you will be in a position to make a choice that is good for both of you.

Have open communication in your relationship…make it easy for each person to express his or her feelings/concerns without fear of being "labelled" or judged. This will help in case there are things that are not going right in your relationship, the other person can share comfortably and both of you work towards solving the issues thus a successful relationship.

Secondly, trust is very crucial; remember trust is built in a relationship. In long distance relationships, trust need to be strong. You will need to trust your partner wherever she is and believe that she is upholding what both believe in. Trust helps in making sure that you don’t run into conclusion or suspect without finding out what is going on. Therefore it is important for both of you to build and maintain trust in your relationship.

Lastly, surprise your partner, you may decide to write a letter and mail it - this will demonstrate that you are putting more efforts to make this relationship. In turn the other partner will feel that she has the responsibility to make the relationship work. Hence both of you work towards a healthy relationship.

what a Coincidence!

A husband and wife who had been cheating on each other literally caught themselves pants down when they bumped into each at a lodging in the expansive Karagita estate near Naivasha Town.

The man, a fish monger at the estate, had informed his wife that he wanted to travel to Western Kenyan for an urgent family event that would take place the following day.

When the man was set to leave, he exchanged a few pleasantries with his wife and then left for the bus station.

"Good bye dear," she waved beaming with a charming smile.

Unknown to her, however, the man was going nowhere near his rural home. He had instead made arrangements with another woman and they had agreed to meet at a nearby lodging facility. The idea of going to ‘Western Kenya’ was just a ruse to cover his amorous ways.

She called her lover

But in line with equality, his wife also thought that this was an opportune time to meet a man she had been surreptitiously having an affair with. She promptly called her lover and they booked a room in one of the few lodgings available in the sprawling estate.

By coincidence, the lodging the woman and his lover booked was the same one her husband was holed up with another woman. In fact, and unbeknown to them, they had booked adjacent rooms.

Everything went on as planned and nothing seemed unusual until around 10pm when the unexpected happened.

The man who had ostensibly visited Western Kenya decided to call his wife, to assure her that his journey was smooth and hassle free. The first attempt to make the call was unsuccessful and he thought it was as a result of poor network. He decided to make the repeat call from outside the room.

Familiar ring-tone

After the second attempt, the call went through. But something baffled him: a familiar ring-tone sounded in the next room, seemingly generated from the call he was making due to the timing.

Then suddenly, the door flung open and a woman emerged clutching a phone. She was his wife!

It was one of those awful moments when one wishes they could sink into the ground. The man discontinued the call and stared at his wife in silence and disbelief. He could not believe what was unfolding before his eyes.

But slowly, the bile rose and, chest heaving, he thundered, "Truphena, what are you doing here? What is the meaning of this?"

Angry that he didn’t seem to be aware that he was equally in hot soup, she raised her eyes toward the starry night and retorted, "Jeckonia, what are you doing here?"

Time stood still. They both gave each other strained, anguished looks, followed by nervous smiles. With a mixture of shame, guilt and resentment eating him up, the man said, "Truphena, let’s talk at home."
